The start from Paris could be frightening for many. In fact, just 200 m from Montparnasse station is a succession of cycle paths that allow you to leave the Paris region in complete peace and safety.
You might think that crossing Bordeaux would be a piece of cake. This is true in the southern part from the Lapébie track to the Pont de Pierre. However, beyond the latter, towards the north and the estuary, this is far from being the case: many of the paths are poorly designed, there are numerous discontinuities, and work is carried out without any precautions being taken for cyclists.
The whole route is a succession of natural and architectural beauties.
Some sections are particularly magnificent :

After 10 years camping, we've lightened our load by returning to B&B accommodation.
Out of dozens of rooms, we must mention the ones that are exceptional:
One room to avoid: Le Logis de Ruelle in Ruelle-sur-Touvre (a suburb of Angoulème). The pseudo chatelaine was surly and misleading: we were promised that our bikes would be kept under lock and key when we booked, but in the end we were casually refused.
